    Europe commits to the Grand Est with the European structural and investment funds (ESIF)

    The Région Grand Est manages and allocates European credits. The funding arrangements in the regional areas are carried out according to the programmes, contractual documents drafted by the European Union, the State and the Region.

    • European Regional Development Fund (ERDF): for regional development projects ;
    • European Social Fund (ESF): in favour of employment and inclusion, including for the Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) ;
    • European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD): for agricultural and rural development projects.

    Cohesion policy

    The Cohesion policy is financed in the Grand Est by the ERDF, ESF and YEI. It aims to reduce economic, social and territorial disparities by supporting job creation, competitiveness, economic growth, improved quality of life and sustainable development.

    Rural development policy

    Second pillar of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the action of the European Union in rural development is complementary to the income support policies (aid to farmers) which form the first pillar of the CAP.
    With the EAFRD, Europe is investing in rural areas (countryside vitality, investment programmes, modernisation and support for agricultural and non-agricultural activities in rural areas and for all players in the rural economy).
